Backups are your insurance. Cloud deployments normally follow the backup arrangement agreed in your package, while desktop deployments depend on the copies you make. Know which applies to you.

Steps

  1. Find out your backup arrangement

Check your proposal or ask Zobly how often cloud backups run and how long they are kept.

  2. Make your own export copies

On a regular schedule, export key data such as customers, items and ledgers and keep the files somewhere safe.

  3. For desktop setups, copy backups elsewhere

Save backup files to a different device or storage. A backup on the same computer is not enough.

  4. Test a restore

Ask support to help you test restoring a backup on a test copy so you know it works.

  5. If something goes wrong

Stop entering data and contact support at once, with the time the problem started. Do not delete records to fix it.

Tips

  • Keep at least one copy off-site
  • Label backups with the date
  • Review who can export data

Common mistakes

  • Assuming a backup exists without checking
  • Keeping the only backup on the same computer
  • Never testing a restore
